Celebrating Pride with Style

June 28, 2020 By Traci

pride, pride month, fashion, dvf, wrap dress, thrift

June is the month honoring LBGTQ rights. On June 15th, we made a big step forward with the courts. An employer can no longer discriminate against you for who you love.โฃ

On June 12, 1967, the Supreme Court ruled that race and color could no longer dictate who you may love creating Loving Day (named after the couple; yes, their name was Loving!)

It’s Not You, It’s Me.

June 26, 2020 By Traci

When I ask you to wear a mask, itโ€™s not for you, itโ€™s for me. โฃ This is me a few weeks ago when I had to be tested for COVID. I was sick. I was tired. I was scared. Fortunately, I was negative.โฃโฃYes, it is America and you still have rights, but please understand…

Honoring Juneteenth

June 26, 2020 By Traci

This is where it happened — Ashton Villa. General Gordon Granger read the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865, known as Juneteenth ever since. This is Juneteenth.โฃ This is American history, as well as black history. The end of slavery should be everyoneโ€™s celebration as no one is free until all are free.โฃ All should…

Eating After 7 PM – Time to Eat

June 16, 2020 By Traci

cooking, diet, health, JoelMarion, #AlwaysEatAfter7PM, #AlwaysEatBook, #BioTrust

I chose this journey for its flexibility and an acceptance of what I could and would do in my real life, not some candy-colored fake life wherein I wear white without stains and never have roots and am IG ready at all times.

And the Oscar Goes To…

The Oscars, Being a Star

Those are words that I once longed to hear. Of course, followed by my name. Otherwise, I can hear it multiple times once a year. Like last night. If you don’t believe me, check out my Twitter feed. I’ve never tweeted that much in my life. Well, I can’t know what the future holds for…

My Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon

March 16, 2012 By Traci

Kevin Bacon

You’ve probably heard of the game. With Kevin Bacon’s vast and varied career, supposedly he is linked to every other actor in less than six steps. And yes, I am aware that it was preceded by a larger more philosophical theory that everyone in the world is connected within 6 steps, but back to the…

Making an Art of My Life

October 1, 2012 By Traci

Being an artist can be a frustrating life. If you do math correctly, the answer is always right. 2+ 2 = 4. In every language, in every format. But art is subjective. Whether it is the man sitting in the park selling his wares for $15 or Picasso, the quality of one’s work is in…

Remember… that One time…

It is a well-established fact that if you forget something on behalf of your child, they will never forget it. And by never, I do not mean the metaphorical never wherein they remember for a a couple of days and then it has left their little psyche. No, I mean NEVER. This is true even…

Star Vs. STAAR

Today is the STAAR test and my poor Sonny-Bunny ย is a mess. I wanted to collect myself before writing this. I wanted to speak from logic and not emotion. It’s not going to happen. Because when my baby hurts, I hurt. So if you do not wish to read about a heartbroken mother bemoaning standardized…
